Reflective Practices

Reflective practices are an essential component of working in the field of early childhood mental health. Using reflective practices to focus on culture's influence on your work as an early childhood mental health consultant can help explore how your personal/professional attitudes, behaviors, and practices influence your work with young children, families, and program staff in diverse communities. Reflection is part of individual self-awareness. Reflective practices may also take place in individual clinical and reflective supervision or in peers groups. The importance of this type of supervision will be discussed and illustrated in Module 4.
