Partnering with families is also enhanced by sharing important information in several ways:

  • Gathering and sharing resources
  • Reviewing feedback on progress, expectations and goals on a regular basis. Ways to start this conversation include:
    • “I want to make sure that what we’re doing is working for you.”
    • “How is this going for you?”
    • “Are we moving in a direction that works for you?”
    • “Are we talking about the right things?”

These strategies can become a part of a consultant’s general practices and will help families to feel heard and become more active in the consultation practice.
