Partnering with families is also enhanced by sharing important information in several ways:
- Gathering and sharing resources
- Reviewing feedback on progress, expectations and goals on a regular basis. Ways to start this conversation include:
- “I want to make sure that what we’re doing is working for you.”
- “How is this going for you?”
- “Are we moving in a direction that works for you?”
- “Are we talking about the right things?”
These strategies can become a part of a consultant’s general practices and will help families to feel heard and become more active in the consultation practice.
